What’s in a name?
Greenhouse sprouted as a plant store in downtown Bellingham, WA in 1972.
Partners Chris Foss and Foster Rose opened the store with $1500 in borrowed capital and a passion for tropical plants. From the beginning, Greenhouse
combined a strong sense of community with an eagerness to meet the changing
needs of a growing Bellingham, which led to the introduction of houseware
products and home furnishings in the mid 1970s. Over the last 3 decades,
the store has remained true to it’s mission – to provide “a spirited
collection for the home” by carefully selecting a high-quality, unique
inventory. Today that collection has evolved to include leather and fabric
upholstery, patio and dining furniture, lighting, rugs, art, professional
cookware and cutlery, kitchen gadgets, dinnerware, glass, table linens and
accessories - something for every room in the house. After four separate
moves to different locations and numerous remodels, Greenhouse continues to
be a avid participant in the local economy, growing with Bellingham and
offering a singular shopping experience for locals and tourists alike.
